➵ The only person that Wataru has ever
given anyone a nickname is Yuu.
➵ Yuu describes their meeting as a "
fateful meeting" and considers himself
lucky because he met Wataru.

➵ Prior to meeting the rest of Argonavis, Yuu states that "with my guitar and your bass, we can become the best band in Hakodate!"
➵ On the above, they were both fully prepared to start a band with only a bass and guitar. In scenes where they think back on the early days of Argonavis, they tend to say they they couldn't believe they thought they could start a band with only their instruments.
➵ While often the one to bluntly voice negatives to Yuu's positives, Wataru truly does care about the success of the band and just wants Yuu to keep his head on.
➵ That being said, the two of them compliment each other perfectly. One is a pessimist ("It's not called being negative. It's called being a realist") and the other is an optimistic. They are complete opposites, and yet they gel perfectly together.
➵ In both the anime and the manga, Wataru is the one who manages to convince Yuu to rejoin the band after leaving due to low self esteem. He
throws rocks at his apartment door and
breaks into his apartment to bring him his acoustic guitar. Hard to say if he'd have responded to anyone else in that way.
➵
Wataru hates idiots but seems to make an exception for Yuu.
➵ Yuu called Wataru
cute one time.

➵
This one too.
➵
Also this one. I'd like to visit the part of Tokyo where this card was set - it'd be a pilgrimage.
➵ In the future section of Yuu's history in AAside, it is stated that Wataru is his right hand man.
➵
This one too!
➵ They have matching necklaces, both representing their roles within the band while also complimenting each other. Wataru has an
anchor, symbolising how he is the grounding member of the band, and Yuu has a
compass, symbolising his status as the leader, the guiding light. A ship can't sail without the anchor or a navigation method.
➵ In addition to the above, Wataru's name (航海) can be read as 'navigation' - specifically marine navigation. In a way it's like Yuu is wearing Wataru around his neck :)
➵ Their
first meeting was depicted almost as if
someone had just met an angel.
➵ Immediate friends :) "Hit it off" is the exact wording used in AAside. The kanji used (意気投合) also means 'kindred spirits'.
➵ They're the red/blue trope but instead they're orange/purple (still a cool/warm duo...! It counts to me!) I don't know what to tell you.
➵
"That's my Wataru!"

➵ In Wataru's
third AAside character story, he appears to have been waiting anxiously for Yuu to return home so that they could listen to a CD together. Yuu is taken aback by how excited he is, clearly having not seen him in this way before. Perhaps there is something about wanting to share that excitement with someone special to him, rather than simply asking to borrow the CD and enjoy in his own time?
➵ In Wataru's fourth AAside character story, he plays the guitar for a short moment and says he is
nowhere near as good as Yuu.
➵ In Yuu's
third AAside character story, they both share a moment playing along to a song by a band they both admire.
➵ In chapter 1 of the AAside Argonavis - The Beginning story, Wataru has an introspective moment and suddenly thanks Yuu. It is revealed that he thanks him for being the one who invited him into the band in the first place and continues to pull him along despite everything.
➵ Argonavis Band Story (AAside) chapter 1, episodes
three and
four feature a flashback to when they first started the band. Wataru admits he thought Yuu was a superficial person and a smooth talker at first, but their conversation about starting a band made him change his mind. He then states he's glad that Yuu is the leader and that he is glad he is there with him.
➵ In the flashback mentioned above, Wataru goes through calling Yuu 'Goryo-kun' to 'Yuuto' (which doesn't seem right to him) to 'Yuu'. He has never used honorifics for him since, nor has he taken the honorifics from anyone else; even his own brother is just 'nii-san' and never Kenta, but that's another story. Point is that Wataru calling one person by simply a nickname (which could have been 'Yuu-kun') is a Big Deal.
➵ Wataru looks at Yuu with a certain expression in
this AAside 1st Anniversary artwork. He looks to him as he usually does, with a smile masked by something more serious, as if to express that he wants him to chill out but is so, so glad that he is with them - he is the reason they are all together, after all.
